About Julie & Her Process
Every Child Has Potential. Every Word Holds Possibility
Julie, founder of BrainWealth Kids, is passionate about helping neurodivergent students discover their potential. After a career with Coca-Cola and in consulting, she found her calling in education, inspired in part by raising two sons with different learning styles.
Julie began studying the Orton-Gillingham approach in 2014 and became a certified Orton-Gillingham Clinician through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham in 2023. Her continued exploration of how children learn led her to Structured Word Inquiry, transforming her approach to teaching reading and writing.
Julie works with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and Developmental Language Disorder. She believes every child brings unique strengths and potential to the learning process. Through a collaborative, individualized approach, she helps students build skills, confidence, and independence.
Discover The Logic Behind English
English spelling is more than memorization. At BrainWealth Kids, Orton-Gillingham's structured skill development is integrated with Structured Word Inquiry to help students understand how written English works.
Lessons explore the connections among:
-
Morphology: The meaningful parts of words.
-
Etymology: The history and origins of words.
-
Phonics: The relationships between letters and sounds.
Through guided investigation, students explore word meanings, identify patterns, and discover connections between related words. This evidence-based approach strengthens spelling, written expression, grammar, and reading comprehension while developing critical thinking skills.
Instruction is tailored to each student's needs, classroom learning, and curiosity about words. Rather than relying solely on memorization, students learn to investigate, make connections, and apply their understanding to unfamiliar words.
At BrainWealth Kids, learning is a partnership built on curiosity, discovery, and the belief that every student can grow in confidence and become a more independent learner.
